Macbeth, Glamis Baron, brave and loyal general in the army of King Duncan of Scotland, killed the traitor Macdonwald at the head of the rebel forces in a bloody battle. Walking the battlefield with his companion Banquo, Macbeth meets three women who predict that he will become Thane of Cawdor and King of Scotland while Banquo will be the first in a line of kings. Both men are shaken by the prophecies received from the three women, although at the moment give the not excessively weight. Angus and Ross, two Scottish nobles, reach the battlefield to convey to the King Macbeth thanks for their courage in battle and to give it the title of Thane of Cawdor: the one who held the title before he was killed for treason against the crown. When Macbeth goes to pay tribute to King Duncan, this tells him that he made arrangements to visit his home in Inverness and celebrate the victory. In Inverness, Lady Macbeth receives a letter from her husband who informs her of the prophecy. Lady Macbeth has not seen her husband for years because of the war and is grieving the loss of their only child. An idea makes its way into his mind: devises a plan to kill King Duncan, and thus to ensure the throne to her husband …
